My first truly tasty fruit beer although it is somehwat of a different vein than most. The raspberry stout poured jet black with some nice cascading into a tan head that was soft and delicate. There was plenty of lace all the way down the glass on this beer. The smell was flat out raspberry, which is the major drawback of this and every fruit beer. If you inhaled really hard you could catch a faint whiff of some roasted grains. The front end of the taste still had a lot of raspberry, but it finished off with some dark malty richness and roasted grains. All in all a very decent beer, but as usual I am looing for something in a fruit beer that does not have a ton of artificial fruit characteristics. No one understands subtlety.
