Hazy, golden color. Big, frothy head. Nice, intense, and natural aroma of blueberries with a malty background. Fruity, refreshing taste with long-lasting, though mild bitterness in aftertaste.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is blueberry and pilsner malt. Light bodied, sweet, crisp, and moderate carbonation. Makes for a solid refreshing beer.

16oz can into a pint glass.
3.0 A: Clear straw color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is a touch below average and just a few wisps of lacing are left.
3.5 S: Pleasant blueberry permeates the air. There's not much to say about the base beer. It's clean overall, perhaps a touch grainy with a light hay component. The blueberry covers up most of it.
2.5 T: Like 98% of fruit beers, this one doesn't commit to the blueberry. There's enough to give it a nice aroma, but not enough to hold its own in the taste. Thus, it comes across as too watered down. Again, this is clean overall with light grassy/hay.
3.25 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lawnmover beer drinkability.
2.75 D: Not terrible for a fruit beer, but needs either a lot more fruit or none to become a better beer.

you have to judge these things on what they are, not comparing it to a consecration or anything, which i think people sometimes fall into the trap of doing. this is a small timey summer fruit beer, made to be fruity and not wild or rustic or anything but blueberry, and i think in that context its nice, beats a seadog or something like that for sure, and i think thats is peer group. no color to it, surprised not to see pink or blue or purples in here, but its a blonde looking ale, simple enough right? the nose and taste are blueberry preserves, sweet and fruity and even mildly gelatinous, but the blueberry is also real, not artificial in any way, just tons of it. almost too much to appreciate it as a beer. one of the things i think magic hat really got right way back when number 9 was pushing the envelope, was the fact that the fruit tastes real, but its beer before fruit, and even a hippy beer at that. this falls short of that lofty and always moving target, but its not way way off, and i like it for that. malty wheaty down below, and not overly sweet in the finish. i think these guys are far better at other styles, but this one serves a real purpose in its market, and id be surprised if it doesnt sell well for them this time of year.
