Presentation: It was poured from tap and served in a pint glass at the Rohrbach brewpub.
Appearance: The color is deep amber hue with a light haze. Its head was creamy white and small but hung on well. A thin cap lasted tell then end and made some slick lacing on its way down the glass.
Smell: In the nose I picked up the ginger right away over sweet bready and almost fruity maltiness. As it warms I get a slight vanilla and ginger ale character.
Taste/Palate: On the tongue there is solid hit of ginger and maybe nutmeg spice with a modest bready, slightly toasty and very slightly nutty malt base. Hops are distant and offer a mild leafy/herbal backing. The spice has a quick bit on the tongue but overall it is smooth with soft carbonation and full feel.
Notes: The spicy character makes it a slow sipper. The taste is very interesting but I don't think I would drink more than one in a sitting.

Rohrbach Bad Santa is a hazy amber beer with a thin, sand colored head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. It has a sweet, fruity aroma of cherry and maple. It's pretty full bodied and soft. The finish is a little chalky. It tastes like a fruitcake, with loads of cherry and maple, just like the aroma. The melanoids are pretty strong and it's pretty sweet. Yes, it's liquid fruitcake. This is quite rich, but I ended up having a few pints of it.
