209th Review
75cl bottle
Poured in a 3F Geuze glass
Best before: 24.03.2021
Not sure if this is rebranding/new marketing of the regular Mort Subite Oude Gueuze, but here goes...
A: Hazy, dull yellow. Solid 2 (bubbly white) fingernail head on gentle pour.
S: Hints of lemon rind, old cheese, barnyard funk, and must. Touch of grapefruit and green apple. Very welcoming.
T: Not terribly sour forward here, but good balance of tartness from the start. Complex. Green apple, pear, grapefruit, and lemon zest. Touch of funk, but nothing too over the top. Enjoyable and smooth!
M: Light/medium bodied with plenty of carbonation.
O: Considering how young this beer is, it is quite tasty. I'd be curious to see what a bit of age does to it. Crisp, fresh, and very enjoyable. Traditional gueuze taste with a bit more (sweet) fruit to balance the sour. Needs some time to "grow up".
