identical off fermentation character as their blonde ale, flawed in a way that maxes this out at mediocre at best, but they are in a grace period as far as i am concerned, still a new operation, things sometimes take time to scale, but there is a lot of work left to be done on this no doubt. a slight copper color to it, fine clarity, and an almost inch of white airy head on top from the tap, looks lively and pretty well refined, but like the blonde, the appearance is its best feature. the nose does show a decent hop profile, fresh to me, with a grapefruity weedy sort of northwestern vibe, light spiciness, and some oily dankness along the way, bold but not green or forced, and well supported by some toasty grain, if they could just get the ferment down they would have a pretty classically styled ipa here, but it smells soapy, metallic, and cheap, and it tastes that way too, definitely stressed yeast to blame for these off aromas and flavors. there is good balance to this, a lemon note from the hops before some late onset bitterness, but the yeast is kind of sweaty and makes this seem amateurish and gross. close but not there yet. ill give them a pass this time, but if the beer isnt way better next time i am through here they arent going to survive. a shame because their space is fantastic!
