A simple yet elegant beer brewed with Czech Pilsner Malt and Tettnang Hops in the whirlpool, and fermented with an authentic Czech Lager yeast. We cold aged this beer for over 6 weeks to develop that smooth lager character that gives this style its signature flavor profile.

Been a while since I had a Czech Lager. Poured from 16 oz can into lager glass.

Pours a crystal clear deep gold with pillowy soft white head. Unfortunately the head doesn't stick around long enough, but lacing is quite nice, and there is evident carbonation.

Smell is very malt-forward, with the classic lager yeast character as well, very bready and clean, with a bit of white fruit character, like pear.

Taste is very pilsner malt forward as expected, with medium-low hop character and bitterness. There's definitely some diacetyl/buttery flavors going on too which is perfectly acceptable in a Czech Pils, and it's not overwhelming. There's some frutiness again, definitely getting a hint of pear, it's actually quite nice. This is probably the best part of the beer, and the most important.

Unfortunately I'm struggling a bit with the mouthfeel. Definitely softer than a german pils which isn't really my favorite. Carbonation is also fairly low, again this is in the realms of acceptable for a Czech Pils, but just highlights some of the reasons I prefer the German variety. I won't take too many points off since it fits the style, but some people would say this beer is approaching an unpleasant flatness. Much prefer the sharp German pils with a nice effervescence.

Overall this is actually quite a good Czech Pils, especially for an American brewery. There's no skunkiness or off-flavors, very clean and soft. I guess I'm just not the biggest fan of the style, but I'll surely finish off the rest of this 4 pack and enjoy it.
