Dubbel Barrel is a collaboration between Monkless Belgian Ales the Innovation Team at 10 Barrel Brewing Co.
Dubbel Barrel was created by taking the 2020 GABF gold medal winning best Belgian Abbey Ale, Dubbel or Nothing, and then aging it gently in apple brandy barrels for 10months before being hand bottled, conditioned and naturally carbonated. The result is an elevated Belgian Dubbel brimming with classic toffee, caramel, and malt flavors expertly blended with complex notes of vanilla, sweet apple, mild spice & balanced oak.

Had on tap. Ruby brown mostly opaque body with khaki foam and lacing. The brandy barrel is felt more in the taste than the smell. In the nose it is dwarfed by caramel, vanilla, candi sugar, and dark fruit. In taste however it releases the sweet apple in conjunction with the dark fruits, especially plum and fig, vanilla, candi sugar, belgian yeast and a kiss of oak round out. Feel is lighter bodied with decent booziness, oak textures are faint, malt and yeast lead here. Fun idea, execution was ok, but hey more dubbels in the world is never a bad thing

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
