The barrel-aged version of our collaboration with Bolero Snort was aged for 11 months in a Heaven Hill Rye barrel. Rich caramel and toffee, pleasant oak, and some vanillin combine for a delightfully sweet but drinkable barrel aged imperial brown ale.

16.9 ounce wax capped bottle, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a Teku, the beer pours a dark brown color with about a half inch tan head that stayed around a little while. Small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells toffee, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit and some brown sugar. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak and earthy flavors. It's sweeter tasting with a good amount of barrel character. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and smooth with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Thought this was pretty good, although I liked the maple barrel aged version more. Definitely worth trying!

From the 16.9 fl oz bottle in a snifter. This excellent brown ale pours a
dark and muddled brown with a modest head of khaki foam that settles to
a thin ring, faint dusty layer, and sports some nice legs. Nose of bourbon,
dark berry notes, brown sugars, dark toffee, and vanilla. Flavors
surpass the nose with brown sugars awash in bourbon, mellow oak,
vanilla, toffee, dark fruits of sweet dark cherry, raisin, and roasted
malts. Mouth feel is medium, light carbonation, smooth, mellow, warming,
and finishing moderately sweet, subtly dry, and warm.
Overall, reminds me of Eldridge & Fiske whiskey brown ale (a great but
now defunct brewery). Nicely balanced brew and a great finisher.....OR a
great beginning!
Cheers
