473 mL can from the LCBO; 'freshest by' Feb 25 2020 and served slightly chilled.

Pours with a cloudy, effervescent, ruby red-coloured body, topped with two fingers of puffy, soapy, pink-tinted foam - and I mean *pink*, like strawberry ice cream. It takes forever to dissipate - in the vicinity of ten minutes, leaving a lumpy half-inch cap and plenty of lacing in its wake. This is hands down the prettiest Berliner I've seen to date. I'm mostly getting raspberry on the nose, together with lemon zest and lactic acidity; there're hints of blueberry and grape, too.

Not as tart as most BWs, but tasty nonetheless, with fruity blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry and lemon leading the way through to the back end of the sip. Subtle touches of blackberry and grape skin-like tannin astringency carry on into the aftertaste; one of my favourite aspects of this beer. Light-medium in body, with firm carbonation levels that remain lively throughout the glass, giving this beer a crisp, somewhat spritzy mouthfeel. I had no trouble whatsoever tossing this one down the hatch.

Final Grade: 4.09, an A-. Muskoka's Middle of Noir is, at least to my recollection, the best sour they've put out to date, with a good balance between currant/berry flavour and lactic acid tartness. Assuming that they continue to brew this beer, I'd recommend it to anyone seeking out a light, tart, berry-flavoured brew.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.40 CDN.

Appearance - Hazy dark magenta color with ruby highlights. A finger of pinkish-white foam rests on top. Good hazy level too.

Smell - Mixed berries, namely raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.

Taste - Sour, tart berries with raspberries, blackberries and currants being the prevailing flavors. Some lemon and a touch of salt towards the end.

Mouthfeel - Medium light bodied, assertively crisp, good carbonation and fairly dry finish.

Overall - An enjoyable fruity Berliner that matches up well with any in the style. Flavor combinations are smart and well put together.
