Festbier is traditionally served during Octoberfest. Muskoka Brewery's authentic German-style Festbier is a smooth pale lager with bready, herbal and spicy notes, it is soft and grainy with slightly sweet, spicy and toasty flavours. Well balanced with a smooth and clean finish. Enjoy this brew packaged in a stein-sized can. Made in Ontario.

Pretty good fest bier! A little sweet but quite nice! Easy drinking! Maybe not the best Oktoberfest bier but pretty close to Creemore !

568 ml can served cold into a beer mug. LCBO purchase for around $4.25 CDN. Best before February 18, 2024.

Appearance - Bright coppery colour with more yellow hues than amber ones. Clear and topped with two fingers of loose white head that sticks around for a few minutes.

Smell - Plenty of bready aromas, light zesty undertone with some caramel malts in support.

Taste - Lots of bread again surprise, surprise, with traces of honey and moderate bitterness. Small amount of cooked veggies in the background gives that fall flavor that goes well with turkey, stuffing and pie.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with middling carbonation. Easy to drink quickly and in large quantities although there have been a couple Festbiers recently that have done this a touch better. Still nice and easy.

Overall - A rather delicious festbier and with the added size, two of these will pour extraordinarily well into a proper Hofbrauhaus mug. Very well worth purchasing while in stock and here's to hoping that the emphasis on Festbiers this year regionally continues for years to come, it's been a most welcome addition.

568 mL can from the LCBO; best before Feb 18 2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear golden-orange colour, sporting nearly two fingers of soapy, foamy white head that seeps off within two or three minutes' time. A frothy collar and filmy cap live on, with a couple patches of far flung lace tossed about in its wake; looks normal enough. It smells of grainy pale malts and bread dough, with hints of lightly caramelized sugars, honey and floral hops.

A clean-tasting and flavourful German-style lager: I'm tasting bready pale malts, grains and a touch of doughy, honeyed sweetness. Not a lot of depth beyond that, save for hints of floral, earthy noble hops towards the tail end of the sip; finishes with more bready malts and grainy sweetness dissipating into the aftertaste. Medium-light in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that feels crisp on the palate; great drinkability, practically a requirement for this style - the stein-sized can is just perfect.

Final Grade: 3.81, a B+. Muskoka Stein Sized Festbier is a solid festbier that I'd encourage other BAs to try, ideally before the end of October. Partially because lagers are always better fresh, but also because there's nothing quite like a steinful of strong oktoberfestbier on a cool, crisp autumn evening. This reminds me of last year's "Greetings from Germany" - it's possible that they're the same/similar recipes, which is fine by me because that was a good brew worth bringing back. Prost!
