Nothing brings Mad Tom more joy than a hard day's work, so sometimes he must be tricked into reluctant relaxation. While beachside, he's dreamed up a Tropical IPA with a unique blend of El Dorado, Galaxy, Mosaic and Azacca hops. This hop lineup brings juicy flavours of tangerine, passionfruit and pineapple to convince Mad Tom to stay a little while longer on his unexpected holiday.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Muskoka's latest IPA mixed pack; dated Mar 1 2024 and served barely chilled. Out of Office is one of those labels that changes every year: the 2022 release included pineapple/guava puree, while last year's variant used calamansi. This year's label doesn't mention any fruit at all, so I am forced to conclude that its 'tropical' qualities will be entirely hop-derived.
Pours a hazy golden-orange colour, sporting well over an inch of tight, foamy white head that lasts for three or four minutes. It drapes the glass with a gorgeous curtain of lace as it drops off, worn down to a sudsy collar and patchy cap. Sweet, fruity aromas of pineapple, mango, stone fruit and melon are a pale shadow of what's to come with the first sip.
That is to say, this tastes juicy as heck - I'm getting pineapple, ripe mango and mandarin orange slices in syrup, with hints of pear and cantaloupe. Finishes with some floral hops and a weak touch of pine, but it's the juiciness that lasts, eventually dissipating into a fruity aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation that allows this brew's juicy, fluffy-soft & smooth texture to encompass the surface of your palate. Amazingly crushable - I deliberately started taking smaller sips, just so I could finish this review before I ran out of beer.
Final Grade: 4.09, an A-. Out of all their Out of Offices, I think the one contained in this mixed pack is Muskoka's best by far. In fact, I'd recommend that they make this a year-round release, or at least a seasonal: it's just an unbelievably smooth IPA, well above average by Ontario standards IMO. Quality stuff that I must encourage other BAs to try - put this on the shelf in a single format and I'll keep buying 'em all summer.
