On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip . It pours a pretty, orange-magenta color with a small ecru cap and modest lacing. The smell features roasted malt, toffee, raisin and other dark fruit. For an English Barleywine it is fairly bitter with notes of caramel, toffee, raisin, fig, plum, and earthy char. The mouth feel is somewhat thin for the posted 11.2% ABV. Overall, I would characterize Sole Premise more as an American than English Barleywine. But it is tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.
