Pours a finger of white head into a dirty (by beer standards) mug. Retention is poor, to no certain fault of the beer. Lacing is nonexistent. Body is golden yellow. Looks bad but that's probably at least partly the glass.
Nose is very spicy, smells almost identical to ginger, despite the ingredients being listed as kuromoji and yomogi. Smells good enough, but dwarfs any helles characteristics. Adding spices to a style like this would really only work in super small doses.
The flavor comes across much different - very herbal, reminiscent of earl grey tea, spice comes out more with time. Again, tastes good enough, but doesn't taste all that much like beer.
Carbonation is modest. Body is relatively light. Bitterness is low but the spice adds a bite. Somewhat dry. The mouthfeel works.
Drinkability is fine.
It's a spiced beer. Kinda is what it is.
