Appearance is dark red, damn near edging purple, under a half finger of khaki foam. It's quite beautiful, despite being quite the different hue than advertised, which I can only presume is named as such to lure in the boomer faithful.
Darker than amber malts also give cherry wood, amaretto, semisweet nuts and autumn leaves.
The smooth, slick but silky medium-light body finishes cleanly semi-dry where a hint of chocolate or brown qualities emerge over time.
Listed as an amber on the board, but noted by the assistant brewer as an altbier, this is certainly way better than the amber I had the day before.
