Fresh Kiln Red IPA
We spent the summer listening to a massive flock of gulls accumulate atop our production building in a haunting Hitchcock fashion.
We indeed began wondering what is the shocking mystery of The Birds?
Venture into this mildly eerie 1963 film if you have a little spare time and perhaps you will begin dreaming of spending life naked in fountains drinking this beer. Don't ask why it's red...and maybe don't go to bird shops - ever.

Portal unfiltered golden amber color with a sudsy light tan head that looks like a glass of iced tea, which is a good thing. The nose features fruity hops, some pine, and a nice bit of caramalt.

The fruit flavor is forward on the taste, and it’s more citrusy, like orange marmalade, which is delicious and works really well with the nicely bitter pine flavor and caramalt backbone.

The mouthfeel is full and very dry, and I got more than a bit of residual alcohol on the finish, which worked for this excellent beer.

16oz can served in a snulip. Can is apparently dated December sometime, but I can't read the whole date. Bought it yesterday, I think at Full Throttle Bottles.

Pours clear dark amber, with some nutty/syrupy coloring. Head on the pour was about a finger, thick, dense, creamy. Settles slowly into a thick skin with a drifting pile, tight lacing. Smell is citrusy / grapefruity and pine resin hops, candied orange peel sweetness, a hint of toffee.

Taste is more on the WC IPA side, leaning toward the pine and grapefruit zest, but with a stronger and brighter malt backbone. Long bitter aftertaste. Occasional burst of bubble gum.

Mouthfeel is medium, dry, clean. Overall, this is really tasty.
