“Rood,” which in flemish means “red,” is our take on a foeder aged Flanders Style Ale. Rood is wine-like in flavor profile with notes of plum, raspberry, and balsamic vinegar all supplemented with a harmonized acidity. This beer can take some time to make and we’re not ones to rush things. That would be rood…

"Winter 2024 Blend." Poured into a tulip glass. It's hazy and a burnt orange color with rose hues, and it sports a half finger cap of creamy, ecru-colored foam with a thin ring of lacing. The nose is vibrant with musty red berry and plum, dry oak, and funky yeast. Its taste opens tart and acidic with lots of a flavor reminiscent of raspberry vinegar over a firm malt base. As it breathes in the glass the strong initial sourness and oak balances out a bit and the red berry starts to dominate. It has a good depth of flavor. It helps to sip it slowly and swish the glass. The mouth feel includes fairly lively carbonation and it drinks easily at 7.1% ABV. Overall, while I'm no connoisseur of this style, Rood is a nice change of pace - particular on a hot, muggy July day. The 750 ML bottle format encourages sharing.

Pours a translucent off-amber. Red hues, but on the paler side. Wine like nose, although evident tartness. It all comes together very nicely in the taste. Notable tartness with notes of darker fruits. Dry foedered finish but rather thin feel. Overall, this is an ale that might not suit a lot of interested drinkers, but well executed nonetheless.
