easily the most robust of the beers they have in their early lineup, a solid porter, not a beer that moved my soul or anything, but the execution is certainly there. real dark, closer to black than brown to me, churned up lighter brown head, tiny bubbles collecting and lasting. it has a pretty intense sensory profile overall, some caramel malt sweetness, dark chocolate and espresso in with the roasted aspects, sweeter milk chocolate too, then some almost black tea sort of bitterness late to balance the earlier sweetness, lots of body here too but still a pint beer, toffee as it warms, light unlit cigar like deep wet tobacco character, and just a subtle yeastiness too, i think really flavorful and good, especially for the winter weather, its hearty without being heavy, a fine line to walk. the carbonation is a little softer, so this moves just a bit slower which is fine, it warms up well, has some middle nuttiness and late fudge character that take some time to come out. overall a very tasty porter, i think distinct enough to stand out from the crowd of basic local offerings in this space without being anything exotic.

Draft at Berts. Brown pour, opaque, thin beige head. Aroma is light and roasty, malty, mild sweetness. Taste is dark, roasty, nutty, woody. Nice feel.
