this is fresh and good, newer school west coast type though, without the bitterness bit still a heavy handed hopping, almost hits like a pale though, with the modest abv by current standards and the slightly elevated malt aspect at its center, well refined which is always the case here, even if its not perfectly clear, its close, and it drinks clear, if that makes sense, a quickness to it, maybe it was fermented a little cooler, its snappy and easy, seems right for this time of year. a little color to this, brassy looking, average white head from the tap, a good amount of carbonation. aroma and flavor have a little early hop spice, zested and also kind of cooked or even caramelized orange in the middle, more pine resin and weedy character late, but the bitterness is again quite modest, even with some oiliness to it, love how the nose and flavor are identical. its not striking in the sense of being experimental or exotic, but its cohesive, has flow, and is real nicely dosed. i like the grain backing here, a touch of graham cracker and toast to me, but without it being heavy in any way, fermented close to dry. these guys make a ton of excellent beer, and this is another one, certainly not their most memorable, but safe to say their success is no accident, things are so consistently solid here, love popping in as often as we can!

Half pour at Berts. Bright, clear golden pour, fine ring of head. Aroma starts hoppy, astringent, floral. Taste is sharp, hoppy, fruity, floral, piney. Kind of sticky with mild dryness. Complex.
