these guys continue to make excellent beer for the most part, and ive enjoyed keeping up with it, they now have an awesome beer list, better and better each time i come in, seem finally caught up. this is one of the best ones ive had from the yet, an incredibly light pale ale, keeping with their theme where everything is almost too light and tidy to have personality, like that is the personality of so many of these, house characteristics, heck im not complaining, there are a lot worse house identifiers than overly refined! this is clear and blonde like a pilsner, served in a pils type glass all narrow to concentrate racing bubbles, pretty airy white head on top, this really is a gorgeous pour, especially in this glass. its brewed with zest, i wish they would say what zest, to me its lemon, but its also generic citrus which suggests some grapefruit or orange and/or lime could also be in play, more than one most likely, summery and delicate, and i think its cool the beer has some bitterness, maybe more pithy citrus derived than from any hops, this smells and tastes almost under hopped for something called a pale ale, but i like its clean and easy nature, its almost like they zested a little deep and it has some back end snap because of it. dry and to me kind of enzyme broken down, not yeast fermented, although it obviously is, its like a little too pure, which is cool, but also somewhat dubious. no aftertaste at all, pushing watery on the body its so reduced, but the effervescence with the clean citrus character and late bitterness is a really wonderful combination for the first truly glorious day of spring, and i was all in on this one. meyer lemon, tangerine, white grapefruit, id love to know what the zest really is. could be pils malt based. more hops are unneeded, but it drinks like blonde ale not pale. no worries though, this rules, a top release from these guys thus far for my money...

8oz pour at Alefort. Clear golden pour with a thin but persistent foamy White head. Aroma is a light touch of citrus zest. Paste also just provides a kiss of the citrus letting the clean crisp lager shine through..
