a west coast ipa benefitting cancer research, made pink by raspberry and hibiscus, floral and juicy hoppy, really different and good, one of their more innovative beers ive had, and one they should consider keeping around, the flavor is killer and the proportions are great. pretty jewel pink color with light hazy and a fizzy white head a half inch high. the nose here is hops first, lemony and with a wet lawn note, bitter but clean, enhanced by raspberry twang which is subtle, and its cool how dry this is overall. its lightly piquant in the taste, and seems to have more of its bitterness coming from the hibiscus element than from the hops, like hibiscus tea, truly delicious and super refreshing, unique but not over flavored, drinkable then, and almost impossible to set my glass down, real different! the hops are well selected for the other flavors, clean citrus and herbal character brings the raspberry and the hibiscus together, the grain is light and this is quick drinking overall with high carbonation and masterful balance. it still drinks like ipa first which is hard to do with fruit, and there is like a wet rocky mineral thing that makes it even faster. it warms up well, and i think should have appeal well beyond just the ipa crowd. very clever recipe, a top berts beer of all time for me to this point, hope to get some more before it runs out!
