brewed with prefunk for their anniversary, legends! not sure ive heard anyone call a beer a brut india pale lager before, that was a fast fad with the brut thing, some just bone dry which i guess have just become the new west coast types, others done with champagne yeast, which cant be the case here, its nice beer and it feels lively enough to fit what the brut style should be, very well made, great hop profile, flavorful but easy, very contemporary, and i think something rather unique and in between styles. blonde and beautiful from the tap at their space, sparkling carbonation rising up and collecting in a pillowy permanent inch and a half of pure white head, gorgeous. smells like a nice mix of hops, i get an almost over the top immediate new zealand white wine thing, white florals, green pears, a hint of lemon like its about to get tangy but then it doesnt, but there is also a more familiar mosaic type pineapple note, a little dankness there, very fresh, and the light but appreciable lager yeast in it is a nice aromatic element too, bright and immaculate really, real light on the malt here, could be just pils malt, super pale and minimal in both nose and taste. the flavor is distinctive, really original for a beer so easy drinking, and the refinement is epic, love how this comes together, in part because of how good the base lager is, fresh and tight, ripping carbonation, nice and dry and refreshing, and its hoppy without being too bitter at all. notes of green melon, green papaya, coconut water, lemon, and green tea all through this, a little bit of a catty thing as it warms, more white wine character too, nice minerality and overall water chemistry, doughy but out of the way lager yeast, some oils on the palate but quick still overall, and just really excited and jovial feeling, i could make a night of these pretty easily, or a day, whatever, its a crusher but its loaded, up there with the best from berts so far, which is saying a lot. revive the brut!

Draft at Bert's. Clear, pale golden, fine white foamy head, lacing. Grainy aroma, bready, light floral notes. Taste is light, effervescent, grainy, sweet with an overall light feel. Champagne yeast used for the right effect, a light, clean, tasty brew.
