Typical American porter, but still well-executed and clean like most brews I've had from Bert's. On-tap, textbook dark body, small ring of khaki lacing. Moderately roasty, minor notes of chocolate and grains, simple hints of earthy hops and coffee, some nuttiness, maybe a touch of brown sugar, smooth, somewhat dry finish. Just really solid and pretty textbook and enjoyable for a 5% brew.

brown porter and a pretty good one, some nice grain depth to this, not quite as light as i expected it to be, in color, flavor, or body, but as tidy and well crafted as most of their stuff and a nice addition to their draft menu this time of year. very deep brown color with the faintest mahogany color at the edges, an airy burlap colored head on tap with only a slow fade, super wispy and light on top of a dark brew like this. the nose is rich and sweet, with molasses and leather and tobacco notes, brown sugar and some fermentation element, bran muffin, longer and heartier than anticipated in a type of porter thats usually a little lighter overall i reckon. the flavor is good though, its sturdy and nutty in the middle, chestnut and chocolate, raisin and date, quite a bit of body but its long and smooth in a wintery relaxing way that seems right for this time of year as we move into the holiday season. a little too sweet to drink a lot of, and the flavor hits all at once, not a lot of movement here, but they got a lot into this glass and i think the quality is great. a bit of a linger on the palate, chocolate late, slightly creamy feeling, warms up well. tons of new stuff at berts recently, good to see the pace of innovation picking up there!

Draft at Bets. Dark brown, almost see through, lasting foam beige head. Roasty, malty aroma, burnt toast. Taste starts with a nice mellow bitterness, then some sweet notes, bits of chocolate, roasty. Well balanced and smooth.
