Taster at Bert's. Clear golden pour, filmy head. Bready, biscuity aroma. Taste is grainy, malty. Simple, mild sweetness, bread. Seems more blonde than lager.

they are calling this one an english lager, well named, and it hits like it should, malty in that maris otter sort of way thats lighter than crystal and still kind of pale but is cereal-like and full flavored with some body, hops are light, probably also english, not real bitter but balancing, and overall the lagering doesnt make it crisp, which is a feature of a lot of the lagers you actually drink in england, they dont quite finish out the way they do in the states most of the time, and i think this approximates that without being sloppy or unfinished or anything. good clarity, brass colored, average white head on it from the tap at the brewery, fine carbonation but still some structure obvious as this drinks. lightly metallic, bready, and earthen, with layers of honey, grain hull, and wet concrete, subtle but actually a decent bit going on, slightly warming in that its hearty, and drinkable enough without requiring my full attention for more than a sip or two, wintery a little bit so it fits the season, pleasant and mellow but not lacking, nutty as it warms, pennies, baking bread, but clean on the swallow after the hops on the swallow. almost to clean to really fit the mission, but its close, its not easy to fake working class beer. enjoyed this one after a long week, such good variety at berts of late!
