a pineapple wheat beer, and a good one. not too much pineapple that its not still enjoyable as a wheat beer, but perhaps more importantly its not too sweet to want to drink a lot of, which i think is a common pitfall in fruited wheat beers but especially tropical fruit like pineapple, and this brings the pineapple character without the residual sugar, its low alcohol without being light too which is cool, plenty of textural heft top this from the wheat malt, a well balanced and well made beer that fits the early summer season quite well. this has a little color to it, still sunny and bright looking, but wheaty looking too, a brassy color with imperfect clarity, an average white head from the tap but some lace as it drinks down, love their glassware always here no matter which one they use for each beer, props for that. the nose here is a little perfumed to me, natural enough but all up front on the pineapple, earthy through the rest of it, lightly toasted maybe on the grain side, seems neutral on the ferment or close to it, like this isnt hefeweizen or wit for sure, nice minerality, floral, summery. the flavor is better to me, a little more true to the pineapple with trace acidity, just the right amount of mid palate sweetness, and its awesome with the grain in this. also cool they didnt spike it with orange or lime or coconut or any of the other usual suspects, the simplicity is part of the appeal here for me, a big part. juicy, interesting still, with an equal contribution from the wheat as from the pineapple, a little more body than i think it probably needs, but i dont really mind that, fine carbonation, refreshing without being exceedingly dry, lots to like about this one. good vibes in here always, and good beers since day one!
