Half pour at Bert's. Clear, brass pour, wispy thin head, streaky lacing. Soft, pleasant aroma, malts, woody. Taste is deceptively smooth, sweet notes, grainy, touch of hops. Gone before I knew it.

seems like these guys done ten or more pale ales now, im all for diversity, but its a little bit of a head scratcher, especially with how similar some of them have been, but this one is unique, still with a little more malt than is trendy, which has been a characteristic of a number of them, but the hop profile here is crazy, its almost perfume-like, lemon and potpourri, crazy early and interesting, high tone enough to almost have a belgian yeast thing to it, unrecognizable to me in terms of varietal, but wholly distinctive and in fact defining in this beer, aroma and flavor alike, good, pleasant as the same suggests, but bold enough to seem almost artificial, is there a hop product in this or something? i would love to know. clear and lighter looking, shorter almost lazy looking white head from the tap, low golden glow, very very fresh in the nose to me, lemongrass and lemon thyme, zested citrus, pale earthy cereal malt behind the hops, a gin type layer, and then some bitterness as well, curious, early starting, and insanely aromatic on the hops really, staff told me there was no fruit or anything in it, but it almost seems like there has to me something. the flavor is a little less striking in that regard than the smell, but it does the same thing, big essential oily citrus early with light acidity leaning it toward lemon, but white florals and springy blooming almost allergic character is there as well, its drinkable still, like it doesnt taste overdone to me, its just weird and uncommon and intriguing, like if this is all from hops its wild. good balance from the grain still somehow, right on medium bodied, simple aside from this aromatic surge. memorable, i am intrigued enough to have more of this when we go back next to try to understand it better. anyone else have thoughts on this? pretty exotic and unsuspecting for a basic pale...
