maybe the most basic beer ive ever had from these guys, and this from a brewery that excels in simplicity, leans into it most of the time, just a golden ale here, a little more to it than a standard blonde, but light and minimal anyway, deeper than yellow colored, just a touch of nuttiness and sweetness on the grain side, clean ferment with some crispness, almost a lager character about it, nice minerality and water chemistry, tidy as they go, but on the whole just a beer flavored beer and not one of the more impressive offerings on their menu during our recent visit, but more a credit to the rest of the list than a knock on this one, the quality is certainly there. there is a brightness to this, but also a kind of sensory blandness, like its fresh and grainy and the ingredients are good but its so mellow it seems boring in a way. the peppy carbonation and the freshness of the malt are its best features, it doesnt smell like a lot when its nice and cold, but takes on a little breadiness and coppery character as it warms some, light on hops all the way around, but a little more to it in the taste, nice proportions and when measured against the generic yellow blonde types, this has a bit more going on and i appreciate it most in that context. light to drink but not thin, off dry but quick anyway, unremarkable next to so many of their others, but solid for what it is, no doubt.
