not one of my favorites from our recent visit, but they had a lot of killer new stuff, i just felt like this was a little safe, its not real fruit forward, not super interesting on the hop side, kind of session vibes even though its a tad stronger than is common for that, pleasant to drink, just not really robust enough to make a big impression, which in the context of my visit was perfectly fine, blonde and very light on the grain side, suggesting new west coast style, but the hop saturation really isnt there, almost pale ale hop levels to me, nice white head on it though, some lace, fine carbonation. aroma is natural grapefruit with some pithy peely bitterness, acid, and essential oils, nice with some lightly piney hops and this pale malt, all fresh and simple, cleanly fermented, no bitterness double jeopardy or anything, straightforward and appealing, but restrained in a way that makes me wish for a little more, which is also the case with the taste, the grapefruit is obvious from the midpoint to the finish, but more would make it pop, same with the hops, which have northwestern character that works great with the grapefruit but i almost have to go looking for them, they are behind the grapefruit and more intensity would be welcomed, at least for me. its nice and bright though, the grain is super light as is the body, and its refreshing and quick to drink, no citrus sweetness at all, low hop bitterness too, and a quality product, if a little conservative. berts makes drinkers, and this is a drinker. tons of new stuff in here this time, they have been on a roll!
