we need a category here on BA for west coast pils, which is what this is, double dry hopped at that, and a collaboration with lumberbeard, really robust but also refined, west coasty all the way, not messy in the least, which sometimes i feel like double dry hopping leads to, even permits, so i was impressed with its objective quality, as i pretty much always am from berts. super light blonde, killer carbonation, nice fizzy white head on it, nice shine, really a good looking pour. the nose is bold on the hops, not sure the varietals but it hits with tropical fruit, high thiol character, summery white wine, peach and apricot, and a little catty character that i often get from mosaic, some lemon too, tangerine zest, and green grass, very fresh, still can pick up enough pils malt for that part to work, and some lager yeast, although that element is way back, more of it as this warms, but i drink this up pretty quick, super light bodied for how flavorful it is. the taste is like the nose, the hops are quite pungent the whole way, melon and candied pineapple and even like lychee or something, sauvignon blanc for sure, somewhat weedy and dank to me too a little bit, very light sulfur to it, dry pils type malt at the core, fast finish with just the hops oils left on the palate after the swallow, not bitter or green despite the intensity, good carbonation, nice hoppy recall too, lots of fruitiness to this, they have it darn near maxed out but still a beer to drink more than one of, and still retaining just enough pils quality to fit the style. neat collaborative effort here, this is a very unique take, could be some hop products in here ramping things up, yet still not forced, tidy, nice!
