a collaboration with prost, which makes sense, they both make such clean and drinkable and professional beers, no surprise this is exceptional, one of the best examples of the style ive had in a long time, brewed at prost i am told, its technically masterful and my favorite of all the new ones we had over there recently. this is actually a little less dark than i thought it would be, squarely amber in color, clear and shining, short but lasting near white head, big bubbles in the head but smaller ones on the palate, nice texture to this, it smells and tastes somewhat rich and does have a little sweetness to me, but it finishes almost impossibly dry, wild movement and resolution to it, so impressive. the aroma is nutty and a little caramelized, fresh and definitely european, hints of chestnut and raisin to it, the lager yeast is old world and bready, great tightness and tidiness to this, good minerality, some warmth about it, no real hop personality coming through, but its not without complexity, somewhat bready and autumnal to me, and all of this is there in the flavor, but the yeast is more prominent which i like in the style, and its so quick to finish it kind of takes me by surprise. quenching for a malty beer even, the high carbonation is amazing, and there is a certainly level of authenticity to this rarely achieved in the states, maybe its decocted, its absolutely delicious but the quality is even better than the flavor to me, if that makes sense, like how objectively good is more impressive than what it actually tastes like, subjectively, you know? its downright awesome beer, drinkable forever, cant wait to go back and have a couple more pints of this, highly elevated, the prost influence is unmistakable!
