A multi-award winning ale that pays tribute to the Avro Lancaster and is quite simply the ‘Best of British’ beer. A classic English ale, chestnut in colour with a lovely full-bodied flavour, enriched with a wonderful late hop character.
A two time gold medal winner in the European Beer Star Awards 2007 and 2011. As well as two silver medals at the International Beer Challenge 2012 and the World Beer Awards in 2014.

Cask half pint at The Lamplighter, St. Helier. Served at room temperature. Copper colour. Malty aroma and flavour, not very interesting. Might sample again if colder.

Pours copper coloured with a thick beige head that lasts. The taste is pure malty with caramel notes. Full bodied, lighter in alcohol. Good beer

Served at cellar temp. poured into an IKEA pint mug. I don't know what a full-bodied /amber ale is, this seems to be an ESB and not a bad one. Why do all Canadians have to serve even English style ales so damned cold!!! It kills the taste of the beer! Best before date of Aug 31 2020
Poured a slightly hazy copper coloured ale with a great head which slowly died down to next to none with some lacing
a slight odour of caramel but little else
nicely hopped, toasty, good body and a good flavour of caramel and malt and not overly carbonated
I enjoyed this pint, it somehow feels just right I'd love to try it as a real ale on tap but that won't happen here in Canada
Overall a decent pint that I would buy more often if it wasn't so damned expensive. I'll buy it again when it is on special!

Cerveza de color ámbar con una pequeña cabeza espumosa. Aroma a lúpulo y caramelo. En boca tiene un buen equilibrio entre dulce y amargo.

Great beer to enjoy during a Canadian winter! smell is a subtle malted toffee. taste is sweet caramel, acidic black berry maybe a bit of apricots or peach. The finish is of brown bread, matlty and some bitters. the feel in the mouth is velvety but not syrupy.

Clear chestnut brown with a thick head. Bready malt nose with some earthy hops. Smooth malt body with a tasty crispness that begs for another sip.

L- Quite deep chestnut, clear as a bell, pours with 3mm white head, slowly receding.
S- Just some light toastiness.
T- Toasty, 'classic' bitter style, into nice balanced hopping.
F- It comes over as easy drinking, and is very sessionable.
O- When I think of traditional/classic bitter this is the kind of beer I have in mind. Nothing out of place here, nice balance. Comes over as refreshing and easy going.
500ml bottle Bought in a box of 6 'Classic Ales' from Waitrose. BB 30/9/19
This is one of a number of beers I've had this week that is marketed as as 'amber ale'. I don't think 'amber ales' existed 10 years ago when I lived in the UK, they seem to be, or are very close to, bitters; maybe the bitter style has been rebranded in my absence...
- I'm in two minds about Marstons 'paying tribute' to the Avro Lancaster by using it's trade-mark and heritage. Perhaps it would have been appropriate in the circumstances them allocating a part of their profits from this beer to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Maybe I'm being a little too harsh on the notes, because it's a fine beer and quite fine for summer
