Probably would not normally pay $5.99 for an IPA, but picked this up with five others on a recent trip to Bine & Vine. At least I got the 10 percent off. Had reviewed three beers from Fall (to mixed outcomes), but had a bunch more tasters before and liked them on Untappd. Can on this one read an “Unfiltered India Pale Ale featuring 6 pounds per barrel of Simcoe and Mosaic. No brains, no headaches.” Mosaic and Simcoe are my two favorite hops. Expecting (hoping) this one to be in the 4.15-4.30 range.
Poured a gold-to-light amber hazy color with two fingers of white frothy head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Simcoe, floral, blueberry vine, passion fruit, mixed berry, Mosaic and dry papaya from the glass. From the can added juicy notes of guava and mango, and more passion fruit and papaya. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted Simcoe, pepper spice, blueberry, guava, papaya, floral, dry Mosaic, passion fruit, mango, bitter tangerine rind, earthy grass and green viney vegetables. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Slightly spicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was a pretty good beer. Nowhere worth the price tag, but not bad. (Overall - 3.75)
