Misc.: Canned on Jan. 16, 2020
Not that big a fan of Fall Brewing for the most part. I think they charge too much for their can releases and their beers aren’t that good. That being said, I’ve had a few I’ve really liked. Saw this at Windmill Farms and I was in as it was a coffee milk stout brewed with honey malt, flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, and a collaboration with Dark House, one of the better coffee roasters in San Diego.
Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of khaki tan frothy head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Bad lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled dark roasted coffee notes, dark chocolate, vanilla, char wood, ashtray, cacao and bitter dark chocolate. Wasn’t really getting any cinnamon or honey. (Smell - 4.50)
Tasted even better than the nose. Got the cinnamon and honey that I was missing from the nose. In order got dark roasted coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, honey, cacao, char wood, ashtray and bitter dark chocolate. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasty finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just a tremendous beer for the style. World-class. (Overall - 4.50)
