Thanks, Sonny!
Got this from Sonny along with a pair of Prue Project beers I purchased. He didn’t like it and wanted me to try one. Fall has been hit and miss for me, but always looking forward to trying new beer. Untappd description was “Hopped with Magnum, Simcoe & Meridian in the kettle then dry hopped with Meridian, Simcoe & Columbus.” Vaguely familiar with Magnum and not really at all with Meridian, but pretty knowledgeable about the rest.
Poured a light amber clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white fizzy head, which dissipated quickly. Could see a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Average watery lacing. Poor retention. (Sight - 2.75)
Smelled berry, pine, mint, papaya, lemon, resin and herbal. For hops, could detect Simcoe, Meridian (after looking up hop profile) and Columbus. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Very malty. Got bitter citrus rind, Simcoe, black pepper, unsweetened iced tea, berry, dry pine, resin, papaya, herbal and lemon. For other mentioned hops, Columbus and Meridian still coming in with Magnum with the lingering bitter notes I’d bet. Grew on me a little bit as it went down. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily-to-thin texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Abrupt, dry, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
A good west coast pale ale, but not something I’d want to have again. (Overall - 3.50)
