Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $15.50 for a mixed 4-pack
From: Blind Lady Ale House
Purchased: March 31, 2021
Consumed: March 31, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 28, 2021
Grabbed this as part of a Burgeon/Fall collab mixed 4-pack at Blind Lady Ale House, even though this one wasn’t a collab. I love that BLAH is doing these lately as I’m on their website every day. This one had to be the throw-in as it was canned on Jan. 28, 2021. Really about two days outside my 60-day rule, but almost a month shy of most people’s 90-day rule. Decided to go with it. Bine & Vine’s online description called it a “West Coast IPA hopped with Strata & Amarillo. Hop forward, tropical, citrus, berry notes, dank, crisp & clear.”
Poured a light amber clear color with four fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled dish soap, pine, lemon, Amarillo, tangerine rind, orange citrus, grapefruit and caramel malt. Maybe a smidgeon of Strata. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted decent up front, but something off-putting. Got dish soap, bitter pine, lemon, Amarillo, tangerine rind, orange citrus, grapefruit, Strata, citrus peel, caramel malt and toffee. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Got better as it went down. Very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)
