cold fermented amber beer in the altbier style, flavorful and super clean, so much drier than it looks, a deep brick red color, clear but sturdy, and way more hoppy i think than is the standard in the style, no complaints from me on that. really pretty and refined looking beer under a tall just off white head, frothy and fizzy the whole time. fresh in the nose with some piney and almost gin-like hop character, northwestern and perhaps more aromatic than it is flavorful, but there is some bitterness here, some juiciness too, really i think the hops lighten the aroma in some ways, pick it up, more than just a malt bomb, and the cold conditioning is obvious as this is crisp for being grain driven, faster, less linger despite it still having some richness. notes of molasses and raisin from the malt, caramelized and earthy still, baked and warm, but its quicker to finish here, slightly fruity maybe from the yeast too. the hops bring a little snap, oils in the middle, and a bit of dankness here too, and balanced on the finish without running out ahead of the grain. the whole thing is pretty complex but also smooth, well balanced, and drinkable, a bit more modern to me than anticipated in this style, which can be kind of samey, but this one has a lot of personality. nice beer, id happily drink this anytime!
