Happy birthday, Jed. Yes, I came down and surprised my college roomie for his 60th, hooray! And yes, Miss Dena was a co-conspirator in this effort. Did I mention that we laughed at Jed? ‘cause we did. Last day out, we started at some park where they made me look at a stuipdface alligator. I do not like. And now beers & lunch, in that order. Something new, for me, anyway. On alt 19, a standalone roadside. Feels like a repurposed gas station because maybe it is…

A small, light & airy open space. Sort of an ‘S’ shaped gray concrete slab topped bar, white tile base on the far wall. Seating for 10 on hightop leather chairs. On the barback wall, a row of 20 logo handles with blackboard centers to write the names of the beer on, on stainless. 3 flats atop, the tap list on the center one (beer, origin, style, ABV, & $ for 10oz snifter & pint where applicable as is in most cases). Sample paddles & board games countered, and glassware, growls, & merch shelved below.

Blue cinderblock walls with a McKrakken mural on the far wall over a kitchen peekaboo. Roll up door to the front deck, and a roll up ½ door over a ½ wall opposite to the rear (double down doors opening forward & rear). Concrete floors, black plank on rafter ceilings w/spinnys and duct work. Drop softball filament singles tracing the bar and banded over the floor. Tiny brew kit in the front corner, shirt/hat/glassware merch box on the back wall and shirts hangered below. 4 square hightops angled on center.

Good back yard space, penned with strung lighting. Concrete pad under awning + 19 picnics umbrella’d up beyond on gravel in rows. A cantilever boxcar on one end opens for band play, and cornhole on a grassy patch over there (me, pointing). And out front penned, a bar counter hook seats 12 under an overhang; 4 shorty square tables umbrella’d there.

12 house beers, a good spread of styles without being too heavy here or there (Phillips 66, Stout, 5.7%; Let Your Sunshine, Citra Session, 5.5%; Dare to be Uncommon, Amber Ale, 6.3%; RyeRyeRyeRyeRyeRye… IPA, Rye IPA, 7.1%; McKrakken, WC DIPA, 8.9%; Gettin Dunkel With It, Dunkelweizen, 4.8%; Freshe Hefe, Hefeweizen, 5.3%; It’s Light Bro, American Light Ale, 4.8%; Frosty’s Fuel Holiday Ale, Orange, Cinnamon, & Honey Ale, 8%; Azacca SMaSH, Single Malt & Single Hop Pale Ale, 6.5%; Deez Beez, Honey Cream Ale, 4.8%; Tres Hazy Boiz, Hazy IPA, 6.5%), + 3 Florida guest taps (Mastry’s Brewing, Orange Cream Sour, 3.8%; Barriehaus, Tampa Export, 5.8%; Crooked Thumb, Amber Lager, 5.2%), a single cider (Keel Farms, Strawberry Lime Cider, 5%), and 4 wines from VS Cosi & La Mancha.

Out of the gate, I fucked up and ordered the Export not realizing that it wasn’t their beer. The upside however, is that it was the Barriehaus Export and it slams. And then I went short on a few (Gettin Dunkel With It, Dunkelweizen, pleasant, a bit spicy but not too banana & clovey; Phillips 66, Stout, a little coffee & chocolate, dry, roasty, creamy, solid; Azacca SMaSH, Single Malt & Single Hop Pale Ale is Azacca nice; RyeRyeRyeRyeRyeRye… IPA, Rye IPA, is spicy solid, yes; Let Your Sunshine, Citra Session, clean, little hop thang, an easy drinker). Am thinking Azacca SMaSH, Single Malt & Single Hop Pale Ale & RyeRyeRyeRyeRyeRye… IPA, Rye IPA for the wins.

And food, as we were in the lunching times. J & D both went Smashburger with chips. I had at the blackened shrimp tacos with chips. Damn, they was goods.

Caitlintender today, polite & cordial. chill Wednesday at opening but the place filled in nicely. I like. I’m sure we’ll be adding this to our dance card for future visits down.

Went on a mid-Saturday afternoon after being in downtown, as this place is a couple minutes over from downtown, and the place was packed but found a couple seats at the bar. Service was nice and quick, people inside were watching sports while there's an outdoor scene as well, and this place has a nice selection of its own beers (various styles) and beers from other local breweries. Well worth checking out this place if you're in the area. (It does have a kitchen but we didn't eat here)
