(16 oz can, SIPA 7/16/21, The Original; purchased cold 4-pack... poured into my Belhaven pub pint)
L: polished-clear, honey-gold liquid; fleeting, fat-bubbled foam... last dregs of can do add a faint, powdery haze... cleaned the glass again, poured in a second can: head still doesn't hold well, little lacing
S: grapefruit, pineapple rind, musk/sweet sweat, cannabis, moderate herbal spice... aroma of (carbonic) effervescence as head dissipates... the earthy musk lingers longest
T: mildly toasty/roasty cereal malt immediate on the palate floor, while a lightly fiery, pine-oil hop spice simmers on the roof... a big sip brings back the grapefruit (fleshy pith), delicate pineapple rind note, and pungent, piney herbality which dominates the aftertaste... very light overtone of dried dark berry (tannic skin); fruited hemp granola
F: light, almost thin-bodied on the shallow floor of the palate, while the lively carbonation and piney aromatics, in addition to subtly silky resinous roundness, keep the majority of the upper palate slightly inflated and alight with soft static noise... lovely dry snap
O: possibly but not definitely my first time trying this yesterday, swilled from a can during a lovely late day sun basking... totally a signature Tonewood hop profile, leaning more toward herb/spice than juice... right in my wheelhouse; I love pale ales like this (1813)
