Pours a mahogany brown with some lovely ruby tones as the light works it’s way through the glass. Light head that dissipates to a thin film fairly quickly.
Lovely pumpernickel nose with a touch of caramel. Slight nutty note too.
Taste follows fairly closely. Dark fresh brown bread, mild spiciness, nutty. More brown bread. Really nice.
Lighter body. Eminently drinkable.
This was a top notch Dunkel. Very happy to have tried it.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this, time to fix...
Dark brown pour, minor hues of red when held to light, slight chill haze but overall decent clarity; light brown head, not much staying power but leaves a nice persistent film.
Nose is mostly toasty grain spiced bread, minor toffee, and some nuttiness.
Taste is a pleasant and balanced combination of dark bread crusts with rye like spice, a toffee that finishes like unsweetened chocolate; some nuttiness and earthy hops.
Mouthfeel is light, pleasant vibrant yet soft and creamy carbonation, nice little spicy hop finish with some toasty bitterness; zero sweetness, super dry and quick clean finish.

a: nice mahogany/dark cherry color with a hint of light brown. pours a 2 finger frothy tan head that fades pretty quickly to about 1/2 finger
s: nice crisp lager spice upfront followed by some sweet caramel and toffee. grains and figs behinds that. some oaky note and a hint of dark berries. big fruit bread backbone here as well that really comes to dominate the aroma
t: fruit bread, sweet malt, and a oaky/earthy bitterness. big lager spice and fig. a touch of pepper spice and a a real crisp sharpness to the lagering. a nutty touch towards the end a just a bit of lingering earthy bitterness at the back
m: crisp, medium-light mouthfeel with high carbonation
o: this is a really impressive Dunkel. Great balance and quality-made. sweetness and bitterness is harmonized perfectly which makes it highly drinkable

Pours a dark, opaque brown with a solid head. Toasty malt aromas. Taste is deep dark roast, almost coffeeish with a good helping of bitterness. Nice medium mouthfeel that accompanies the taste very well.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 10/5/21. Sent my way by @jonphisher.
Pours dark brown with a medium sized head, good retention, moderate lacing, medium to high carbonation. Smell is nutty, grainy, fair amount of grain husk. Maybe a hint of toffee.
Taste is very slightly sweet, mostly nutty and rich, with a nutty bitterness, some clear toffee flavor. Surprisingly bitter overall, but digging it.
Mouthfeel is very light and dry. Overall, this is really nice. I like it a lot.

Thanks to jonphisher for this one. 16oz can (dated 10/5/21) Poured into 14oz teku. Poured a dark, nearly opaque, mahogany color with over an inch of tan head that decent retention and very light lacing.
The aroma was, as expected, full of rich, earthy malts, a light touch of caramel, and maybe a touch of smoke? Some floral hops also floated around the edges.
Same on the tongue, just better developed, Every aspect was just a bit 'more'. What i thought might have been smoke in the nose seems more like light roast across the palate.
The body was light, smooth, clean, and had a lightly sweet finish.
Drinkability was very good, I'd keep this regular rotation if it were local to me.
Overall, a very nice brew. Certainly worth your time if you see it.

quality dunkle. I like this local version without that traditional/german feel. For me this is a dunkle without any of the regrets. Surprised and delighted.

Cola brown appearance.
Has about a medium body with equally medium carbonation
Aroma is a nice mix of dark pumpernickel bread, followed by malt, earthy dark honey.
Taste didn't stray far from the aroma with a bready, pumpernickel taste being in the forefront. A little earthy hops and malt to follow.
Very well done flavorful beer.

Ruby, brick red. Olive tan head. Smells of bread crust. Semi cocoa, toast, rye bread. Pumpernickel. Tangy hop character. Chocolate pudding skins. The feel is medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Perfectly balanced. Completely amazing and so well done. A gorgeous beer.

16 oz. can.
Canned on 10/16/18.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields an over one inch off white (extremely light tan) head over a ruby/brown body with nice lacing. Nose of dark bread (pumpernickel) and chocolate (bittersweet, unsweetened.) Taste mirrors nose very nicely with an ever so slight bitter finish. Excellent for a 3 month old Dunkel! Very nice feel and overall, a real nice job from Oaklyn, NJ.
Cheers!
