On tap at Barrington, served in a dimple mug

Dense, powder snow foam, creamy glisten, clear tawny liquid... sort of a pork jerky angle to the roast kissed caramel painted toasty malt, on the nose and palate... surprisingly dynamic and projecting sharp cuts of robust flavors.... dry cut finish but shimmers of flayed sugar spirals dancing briefly mid palate suspended, hints of body but overall remarkably taut, tiny viscous channels... roasty toasty artifacts linger, relatively crisp but dense impact (2488)

Can dated 8/24:
Clarity isn't the highest on this amber, nearing brown, beverage. After the chill calms, the haze is pretty light, but adds a matte impression to the body. Head buildup was ok, and a medium ring forms as the beer sits, thinning out as I drink it down. I get aromas that I expect - a medium grain toasted bread with some fruitiness and the promise of bitterness that will keep an malt sweetness in check. The nose isn't too powerful, and seems to fade a little quicker than expected as I sip the beer.

I get a little earthy spice to open this beer, not something I got in the nose. This is followed by the breadiness of the malt - like an amber bread (thinking PF raisin bread with no raisins) that has been lightly toasted. This threads through to the end, but gets pushed to the back by bitter notes. Finish is a little tea-like, with both some herbal and lemon-zest aspects joining the hops. Feel is medium to medium-light and finishes dry enough that another sip is welcomed.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a chestnut color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, little else. Taste is bready malts, a touch of hops, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Was expecting so much more, found this to be a lower thsn average marzen. Drinksble yes, but i want some heartiness and depth and this did not have that. Drank more like festbier to me snd below avesge in that category as wel.

Pours a dark coppery brown with a decent head. Malty aroma. Fairly present sourness with some maltiness on the taste, and some medium bitterness. Good example of the style but I prefer others.

Tonewood Brewing "Biergarten"
12 fl. oz. can coded PROUD OF YOU 09/31/22" and sampled on 10/11/22
$2.50 @ Kunda Beverage, King of Prussia, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a Märzen with Tettnang, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, and Saaz hops. Saaz would not be my choice for a Märzen, but OK. The malts are Munich, caramber, carahell, and caramunich I and I'm totally down with that. It's a mostly clear copper in color beneath a finger's width of off-white foam. The nose is clean and bready. The flavor delivers that bready malt along with some floral, leafy, herbal, and lightly spicy hops - they did not over-do the Saaz so it works nicely. A median bitterness balances it and it finishes dry, spicy, and lightly herbal. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. At 6% ABV it's slightly strong but other than that it's a solid example of a Märzen that's both satiating and quaffable. Nicely done.

Great color and really great clarity; nice deep amber color off white head; it’s a little soapy looking but settles to a nice thin film. Just a dot of lacing here and there.

Nose is toasty, grainy, minor spiced bread. It really has a toasted husk like quality note to it for me.

Taste has a spiced bread quality to it, there is a little bit of toasted grain that shows on the finish with minor hop presence; with some earthy qualities to it.

Body verges on medium but has a smooth a creamy carbonation to it that increases its drinkability. There is a minor bitterness on the finish, hop or grain driven, hard to tell. Drinks clean and with a slight drying sensation on the tongue. Only critique is you can tell this lager has abv; not in the form of heat or booze but there is a little something on the finish that hints at it. Just the slightest slightest hint of something in the sinuses. Just slightly watery.

A solid addition to my personal favorite brewery if you like marzen o fests grab this one you’ll enjoy it.
