Pendulum in its essence, is a “West Coast” style India Pale Ale that utilizes some of the newer school of hops us and the world have come to love over the last decade…
Brewed with Two Row Barley and a touch of Vienna & Biscuit malts, Pendulum is hopped with a well balanced cocktail of Citra, Galaxy, Amarillo, and Chinook. This beauty pours a radiant (and clear!) golden amber with an aroma of freshly baked bread slathered with orange marmalade. We’re tasting notes of more candied orange, perfectly ripe pineapple, guava icing, and a very pleasant evergreen bitterness that’s there but doesn’t blow your socks off.

(16 oz can, 02/16/24; purchased cold 4-pack from Barrington brewery two days ago... poured into a 20 oz nonic)
L: the amber starts off a bit clear, but clouds up as it goes, eventually leaving a solid misty haze, but short of sedimenty swirls... some bath sudsy foam inflates then degasses soon after... damn, that ragged ass foam break is a disappointment
S: trampled pine needles, lemon wildflower honey mush, toasted sugar, whiff of hippy musk, delayed cereal gratification... subtly soapy floral porridge after it all settles; its overall intensity and expression gets disperse and fuzzy
T: yeah, that's certainly a throwback flavor, but some certain Citra orange and Galaxy guava cutting through the near-green oniony spice and menthol pine of the legacy hops... peppery bite crescendos through the third sip; buzzing my palate... pleasant degree of malt, skirting the line between bread and cookie
F: quite carbonated; exiting gas blasts through the prickly stinging numbing my palate... rather resin-rich texture up front, with a brief moment of silky bliss, only to be drowned out by the pointed tonic electricity... smooth and sharp altogether
O: I like this one; nice development of flavors over the course... on their draft menu, it had kicked by the time I got there; luckily they had plenty can to-go... I'll enjoy the rest or gladly share (2281)
