Brewed with a base of marris otter as well as some chocolate wheat, and other specialty malts. Hopped entirely with east kent golding and conditioned in package for a beautifully full & soft carbonation to mimic true cask ale.

(16 oz can, no date/code; purchased cold 4-pack from their Oaklyn location 2 weeks ago... poured at 54 F into a proper nonic pint)
L: rosy garnet brown liquid with little clarity; tight, tall, tan-tinged foam stand, receding in craters... absolutely gorgeous, glistening foam, rocky as it settles, lacing in random rivulets
S: roasty-toasty malt top note with some underlying chocolaty caramel... faint undertone of leafy hops... late overtones of caramelized meat ends, meaty yeast
T: chocolate and Munich malts are up front... dry, cookie crumb, roasty but equally as earthy bitterness in the aftertaste... toffee cookie is the overarching malt expression, while the earthy hops and acidic bitterness fill in the noise... it tastes more and more stale and tainted as it goes: mute malt soup and over-steeped light roast coffee
F: plush and dirty swell up front, tickling and stinging mid way, then sloshing out in the finish, still simmering with acidic roast... pinching ones nose, though, might find the textures and bite reminiscent of a spoiled, infected swill
O: I first tried this on cask at the Yards Real Ale fest earlier in the month; that version wasn't as bitey bitter... certainly serviceable, though it leaves me craving more nuanced malt and yeast flavors, and less static and dirt (2550)

on cask at the brewery, served in nonic pint glass
very dark brown in color, with thick cream colored head. A little roasty, with a very dry finish. Very smooth feel from the cask conditioning

Pours a dark muddled brown; nice beige colored head, creamy looking in nature, above average retention, some lacing.
Nose has noticeable toasted character; some deep earthy tones, woodsy, dash light dark chocolate
Taste again has a very pleasant toastiness; the earthy comes off a little chocolate like, minor dark tea, light coffee on the finish.
Light body, very soft, gentle and pleasantly low creamy carbonation; finish is quite dry and a nice little touch of bitterness.
