Pours a deep ruby red with a tan creamy head that fades leaving a small amount of lacing.
Smells of ink (mostly dominate), some candy sugar, christmas tree & spices
Taste of INK eww, sweet, random christmas spices throughout.
I've had much better christmas beers, and I'm stuck with a six pack of this.

Bottle.
Poured a deep brown/mahagony color with a small tan head. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruits and slight yeast. Sweet tasting with a slight bitter aftertaste (well balanced). Alcohol content well hidden. I enjoyed this X-Mas beer.

Bottle best by date: 09/2005...
Appearance: dark reddish brown, huge layer of sudsy tan foam that slowly compacts and turns rocky, almost opaque
Aroma: sweet bready maltiness, a touch of yeasty spice, alcohol, twinge of hops, raisins
Flavor: a nice even maltiness with a slight tangy twinge, dark caramel, a touch of hop flavor and enough bitterness to balance, iron, finish is semi-sweet with a drying effect from the alcohol which lingers in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: medium body, zesty carbonation, some alcohol warmth
Overall Impression: Pleasantly surprised by this one! This beer is vaguely like Chimay Red without that sharp, metallic edge. I didn't have much hope for it since it is a beer commissioned by Colruyt (a Costco-like supermarket chain here in Belgium). Despite that, it's quite a nice beer! So much so that I'm going to grab one of the shrink-wrapped three-pack 750s to age until Christmases to come.
