Poured from a growler into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a medium to dark, slightly brownish red with a fine, one finger khaki head with great retention and slippery solid lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt, dates, light plum and a little smoke. Flavor is similar, with dry caramel malt, dates, mild dried plums and good peaty smoke in the finish. Medium bodied with moderated creaminess and nice mouth feel. A quite solid Scotch ale that is more similar to that end of the spectrum than a wee heavy. Pleasant caramel malt and dark fruit notes. Smoke is moderate and not peat intense, but gives a good Scotch finish. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy. A worthy example of the style.
