12oz pour at Mugihigeya in Mizonokuchi. Described as a smoked amber ale.
Dark amber color, thick dense head, slow carbonation. Slight haze. Smell is mild sweet smoke, very nutty, toasty. Something in the date/raisin arena. Taste is much smokier, but not overwhelming. Smoked brisket comes to mind, toasted pecans. Nice on top of the malty sweetness, grain husk, and barley tea. Mouthfeel is light and fizzy, but substantial enough to satisfy. Nice beer.
