A twist of coriander and bold malts. Our traditional Belgian Dobbel will satisfy the malt lover in you. Its blend of complex malts are accented with subtle noble hops and coriander. One of the older styles still brewed in the abbeys of Belgium today, this dark ale is truly a Belgian staple. (IBU 35)

Because we are in mid-summer, I haven't been drinking many dubbels. But I was very impressed by this one, particularly so from a young brewer. It is hard to balance dark fruity ales to go with three seasons of food, and Dobbel stands a good chance of making it with all three. So I am going to make a trip to their taproom or find this again and drink it side-by-side with a classic dubbel and with three seasons of meals. Cuver's Dobbel could be close to the classics soon.

The addition of coriander gives this dubbel a strange/interesting finish. It may be an acquired taste and although it is not bad, it is not my favorite brew from Cuver. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a globe glass it produced almost no head but it had quite a bit of carbonation. I bought this right from the brewery last week so I think it is quite fresh. I did sample it on draft at the brewery and I though it tasted a bit better in that form.
