Stepping into their second year gives the brewers of Trellis a moment to reflect on the past year and what has made the brewery thrive. Cereal mash, unmalted grain, natural filtration are some of the techniques that continue to set their beers apart and this anniversary beer encapsulates these things well.
Not your average lager, Year Beer pours with a bold gold, light amber appearance, strikingly bright and capped with a foamy ivory cap before reeling in the senses with a juicy malt scent of toast, honeysuckle, fresh baking bread and delicate floral arrangements. As its grain sweetness greets the tongue, the flavors of toast and honey wrap around the tastebuds with the understated complexities of malt and fresh kilned grain. Floral hops trend pleasantly spicy in finish and provide an even-keel offset of sweetness in a bitterness of parsley and mint.
Medium bodied overall but fuller and more rounded for lager, the beer shares what's best about Vienna lager, festbier and to some extend Dortmunder beer.
