750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. 2001 vintage.

Appearance - Dark and murky orange. Small white head and a very wispy surface.

Smell - Oxidized. Really oxidized. A little bit of cardboard. More sherry-like. Wine and oak. Some sweet malts and a little bit of belgian yeast.

Taste - A lot of oxidation and this time it's cardboardy. Light orange flavor. Wine. Oak. Mild sweetness. Oxidized finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium low carbonation. Medium heavy body.

Overall - I think the oxidation saves this. I have a hard time imagining that the tripel behind it was going to be that good, but the wine barrel and oxidized flavors taste good.

2003 Vintage- Retired

Thanks to Matta for this one.

A: Pours a hazy golden hue with a small white head. No retention or lace.

S: Very sweet. Lots of caramel, sweet fruit, spice, and oak.

T: Apples and Pears up front. Nicely oxidized with notes of caramel and toffee. Mild barrel notes still exist. Light oak with a dash of vanilla. It has aged pretty gracefully.

M: Medium in body, smooth tasty.

D: Good glad matt shared this one with the group.
