Translated from Polish:
Jopen - in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, Gdańsk beer was considered the "king of European barley beers". It was called a doublet drink. This means that twice as much malt was used for its production as for so-called full beer. Therefore, one barrel of Jopenbier used 183 kg of the best quality barley malt.
Brewer Johannes Herberg from the PG4 Brewery in Gdańsk, together with professor Samp, conducted extensive research, as a result of which they found the original recipe for Jopenbier and new, previously unpublished materials regarding the origin of the name of this royal drink.

50ml pour in a little tulip at the brewery. Dark "historical" style? Didn't know what to classify it under when I added it, by description and taste seemed to fit a little bit under English barleywine.
Very dark brown, still, no head. Smell is sup.er boozy, vanilla and molasses, chocolate and burnt toffee. Taste is sweet, reduced cherry syrup, molasses, chocolate, burnt toffee. Mouthfeel is thick, still, velvety. Interesting and enjoyable in small quantities.
