Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color with a thin beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some smokiness and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with a very hearty roasted malt character. Then some mildly sweet flavors of chocolate and coffee come in along with some smokiness. The hops presence is very mild as expected and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, strong kick, good representation of style, this is a solid stout to drink for a long time.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Dark as night, thin light brown lacing all over the glass. Smells of dark fruit, chocolate cake, and a mild coffee. Creamy smooth with a full body. Tastes of highly toasted grapenuts, cocoa nibs, chicory, a kiss of blackstrap molasses, & mild charcoal. Pretty damn impressive ...

Pours a jet-black with less than half a finger of foamy tan head that dissipates to a ring with strata of lacing throughout. Roasty malt and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate taste. Full-bodied and satisfying.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours a dark cola brown with minimal creamy tan head that fades to a wispy surface layer quickly after the pour. Wish the head stuck around a little bit longer in the glass.
The aroma is some dark chocolate, roasted malt and a bit of dark fruit, plums primarily from what I decipher from the nose. Not really boozy and no hop presence.
the first sip reveals a slightly thick body with smooth silky texture. The carbonation is very fine and tingly as it rolls across my palate.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted malt and dark chocolate mixing together. I also get some sweet dark fruit and lingering dry roast coffee grind on the finish. The booze is absent and the beer is very drinkable. For the price it is a super value and I enjoy this beer. A very approachable RIS that drinks easy for a beer this size. I enjoy this one and Im glad to have picked up a 4 pack.

12oz. bottle served in a tulip. Freshest before March or April notched on the label. Pours an inky black with a half inch, tan-colored head that dissipates towards the shoulders forming a milk froth band and a soapy slick. Nose is fairly subdued - hints of roast and chocolate malt. Taste consistent with nose; however, it comes off a bit watered down. The basic parts are there but nothing really stands out. Mouthfeel is light-medium, albeit a bit thin for the style, with a mild, even carbonation. All and all, a decent RIS but a bit dull and unassuming.

Really confused why there's only 2 ratings (one being mine) on this beer? Pitch black color with a small tan head.. Smells of rich malts.. Cocoa... With some spice. Taste is right up there with any great Russian imperial stouts. Great smokey finish with a great mouth feel.. Smooth the whole way down. Overall I find this beer phenomenal for a 10 dollar 4 pk... Comparing to old Rasputin which is 15 up here I would probably take the taste over it also for the insane smoothness with the insane smokiness balance
