DATE: July 28, 2021.... OCCASION: stop #3 on the 20th anniversary bar tour--the Smuggler... this is a nice, almost quintessential NEIPA--big for its ABV, creamy, savory and flavorful...a bunch of citrus is loaded in here.... a nice sipper and a good follow-up to the two breweries...

Canned 3/27/19
Pours a lighter frothy head with low retention, a little lacing, hazy cloudy medium orange color
Nose very dank onion/garlic, earthy pine sap, light doughy sweet malt, wheat, little mineral, i barely even get tropical and citrus... OK as it warms I get more tropical and citrus fruits, mango, papaya, peach, citrus, etc, if that dank onion pine wasn't there this would be a great aroma, but still getting tons of onion garlic
Taste at least brings some citrus and light tropical, clementine juice, tangerine, little orange, more pithy and papery oxidation like thing going on again, or the minerals left in the proteins, not sure but not enjoyable, big orange pith and mild tropical with a touch of mango and papaya, with light onion and dank pine in the background, thankfully much more subdued, but that weird papery thing is not pleasant
Mouth is medium to lighter bod, a bit soft creamy but feels more watery than the Vic Secret version, medium carb
Overall this misses a lot of the marks, it's close enough to be called a NEIPA at least with the soft juicy fruits and low bitterness, but it feels a bit watery, the papery pith thing is unpleasant, and the onion/garlic thing from mosaic is not fun

16 oz can poured into a shaker.
Appearance
Hazed-out golden amber. 1/2 finger creamy head.
Nose
Peach & cream, passion fruit, honey, oats, mango, and papaya.
Taste
Mango, papaya, and caramel. Peach & cream and toffee. Oats and light honey.
Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, smooth, silky, and juicy with barely any bitterness.
Overall
Super smooth with barely any bitterness. The malt flavors are balanced with the hops so the Mosaic doesn't really shine as much as I'd like.
